Elections in the U.S. are happening next week, and media keeps reporting that COVID-19 cases are spiking..
Reporting the case numbers along with the test numbers would be important, but they don't.
(Mainstream media reports on what they want to report on, and censors or ignores what they want to ignore,
which has become very obvious since COVID and worsening as elections near.)

As testing goes up, cases will go up.  So to see if cases have really gone up, need to track %cases/test to see
if that has been going up.

(The Case/Test and Death/Test are important metrics, because case/million and death/million go up as time passes,
but by normalizing cases and deaths with the number of tests, we can see if cases and deaths are changing.)
In the U.S., % cases/test has been going down, from 14.6% to 6.96%, which is a decrease of over 50%!
(see #1 below)
[ From world table in 2) below, you can see how much testing US has conducted.
It has done over 100 million tests, which is just under 1/3 of the US population, and is the highest in tests per million
at over 322,000 among countries with population over 100 million.]

I've updated COVID-19 death and case rates for the U.S. through September 30, 2020 and daily case and death
charts for the US, NY, and CA,
and they indicate either improvement or things are not getting worse.
The daily cases will go up with increased testing so the daily case chart may be going up in some cases.
The daily deaths chart are a better indicator for me, because deaths would not go up with increased testing.
The daily death charts look as if deaths are on the decline, which shows that things are improving.

Overall in the US, the fatality rate (death/case) continues on its downward trend from 5.96% in May to 2.84%,
the case/test has decreased from 14.6% and dropped to 6.96%, and the death/test has continued its downward
 trend from 0.807% to 0.198%.

Again Case/test has dropped by more than 50% in the U.S.
Death/test has dropped to less than 1/4 from where it was in April, which means that the death rates have dropped
about 75%
The US now ranks #60 in the world for deaths/cases at 2.84%, below the world average of 2.98%.
(See #2 below)

US, Daily Cases through 10-28-20

Even though cases may be going up, cases/test have gone down more than 50% as explained above, meaning case rates are not really going up

But US Daily Deaths are about the same, not going up

New York Daily Cases up slightly, but still much lower than they were in April.

But New York Daily Deaths are dropping off, close to 0! since July
(even so, NYC is locking down again for concerns about "second wave"):

CA Daily Cases are Increasing slightly:

But CA Daily Deaths appear to be decreasing:
